A-level, L3 BTEC and GCSE Results 2021
August 2021
Highbury Fields School community is this week celebrating the quite exceptional achievements of our Year 11 and Year 13 students.
The unprecedented circumstances brought about by Covid-19, including school closures, remote learning and self-isolation could do nothing to deter our very special students from making every moment of their education matter.
The results days that took place this week were therefore a celebration, not just of their academic success, but of the fortitude and determination of every student, each of whom genuinely embodies the school’s values of community, tolerance and respect.
The school is delighted with the quality of grades that our students have been awarded. In Year 13, 96% of A-level and Level 3 BTEC results were awarded an A* to C, 83% were awarded an A* to B and 64% were awarded the highest grades of an A* or an A.
In year 11, 90% of all GCSE results received a grade 4 or above, 80% a grade 5 or above, 66% a grade 6 or above, 47% a grade 7 or above, 30% a grade 8 or above and 15% were awarded the highest grade of a 9.
Highbury Fields School put in place an extremely rigorous process to ensure the accuracy and consistency of students’ grades. This process was verified by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) which represents examination boards. Our students’ results are therefore a genuine reflection of their abilities and performance and they come as a result of the hard work of students and the teachers and school staff who support them.
Within these wonderful results are a large number of quite remarkable individual performances, with 14 Year 13 students receiving straight A* or A grades and four Year 11 students receiving grade 9s across all of their subjects
For our students though, this week has not been just about what grades they have attained but, having endured such a turbulent period of time, they now know that they can take the next steps in their education with confidence and conviction.
Highbury Fields sixth formers are looking forward to continuing their higher education at some of the country’s most prestigious universities.
Students will read subjects such as architecture, chemistry, criminology, engineering, English literature, geography, history, law, nursing, physics, psychology and sociology at university. The institutions to which they are progressing include Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Imperial College London, King’s College London, Manchester, Oxford, Royal Holloway, Royal Veterinary College, Warwick and University College London.
The success of our students certainly reflects their hard work over the last two years but is also indicative of the school’s determination to truly know every student, so they develop into well-rounded individuals who flourish both academically and socially. The school wishes all of our students the very best for the future.
