News HomeHighbury Fields Sixth Form celebrates outstanding A-level results
This morning, Highbury Fields School is celebrating outstanding A-level and BTEC results that place us in the top 10% of sixth forms nationally.
With nearly a third of all grades being awarded an A*-A; 78% an A*-B and 93% an A*-C, these results far exceed both local and national averages in all subject areas.
A number of students achieved A* and A grades across all of their subjects, meaning that they are now progressing to the most competitive and prestigious degree courses and universities. Lucy (pictured below), with three A*s and an A, will go on to read philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford and Christina achieved four As, meaning she will study medicine at Liverpool.
Lucy’s mother reflected that, “at Highbury Fields School Sixth Form, teaching is excellent and so is the support offered beyond the classroom. It is simply an incredible place for my daughter to learn and thrive.”
The co-educational sixth form’s academic curriculum has enabled all students to progress to university to read a wide range of degrees, which include business management, drama, engineering, fashion design, global politics, international relations, history, literature, mathematics, pharmacy and nursing. Incredibly, over 50% of students have been awarded a place at a Russell Group university, compared to a quarter of students nationally. These universities are regarded as the top 24 universities in the country.
Laura Tobia, Director of Sixth Form (pictured above), commented that “the school community is thrilled to be celebrating the impact of the incredible teaching, relationships and support that are hallmarks of Highbury Fields Sixth Form. Students are leaving the sixth form with the very broadest of horizons and we are extremely proud of their effort and academic success, and the dedication of their teachers.”
With students across Islington anticipating their GCSE results next week and making important choices about their sixth form studies, Highbury Fields Sixth Form hopes this information helps parents and students in making an informed decision about their next steps. The sixth form will be enrolling external students who meet entry requirements from 10.30am on Thursday 21st August.
