On Monday 26 January, a handful of students from across the school were recognised and celebrated as outstanding young people at the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards.
- Sir Jack Petchey CBE
- Year 7 - Bonnie, Elle
- Year 8 - Freya, Angel-Faith, Masa, and Beau-Lily
- Year 9 - Lexi
- Year 10 - Zahia
- Year 11 - Kiara
- Sixth Form - Sabrina, Elif, and Aribha.
Ms Kawagga and Ms Morgan were among the award winners and joined the students on stage to collect their Leader Awards, which recognises them as inspiring members of staff.
Award winners were nominated in the autumn term; students were selected by their teachers while Ms Kawagga and Ms Morgan were nominated by students. Each award comes with a grant for the school, and the winner decides how it is allocated. Student winners each decide how the school will use their £300 grant, whether on equipment for school or an experience for their year group. In the Sixth Form, Aribha plans to take all of Year 13 to see Wicked in the West End, and Bonnie in Year 7 wants to buy puzzles and equipment to start a puzzle club.
The students from Highbury Fields represented the school with maturity. Not only have they made their teachers and families proud, but they should also be very proud of themselves for this accomplishment. As the Mayor of Islington, Councillor Jason Jackson, highlighted in his address, we live in a rapidly-changing world and the next generation is more than capable of leading us, through the kindness, hard work and perseverance demonstrated in all the students awarded at the event.
