Art & Design Exhibition 2017
The Art and Technology department would like to congratulate all the students who had their work exhibited in this year’s Highbury Fields School Art and Technology exhibition. Despite the rain many parents and students attended the event and were amazed with the outstanding artwork and professional products exhibited. We were extremely privileged to also continue running the Mador Prize this year, sponsored by Charles Mador, a local Architect. Each year students across years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are welcome to enter any artwork they create, in either two or three dimensional form. Two winners are selected from each area and are awarded £100 worth of art prizes.
This year the judging of the artworks was done by landscape Architect and portrait painter, Alison Hainey. Although a difficult choice, due to the standard of the work, the final decisions came about due to the creativity and skilful execution of the pieces. The winners were:
- Flora in year 7, for her ‘Helen and Kevin’ wire sculpture, inspired by her Aunt and Uncle’s wedding.
- Ariya in year 8, for her, ‘Mother nature in Anguish’, depicting the sadness of human destruction on the earth’s resources.
There were also four runner up prizes:
- Amy in year 10 for her, ‘Eagle’ piece.
- Harjar, ‘Raku’ clay sculpture.
- Charlotte Mae, ‘Never Forget’.
- Maria,’Taj Mahal’.
We would like to thank all the students who submitted their amazing pieces of art work for the Charles Mador prize and all year 11 and year 13 students for their outstanding outcomes produced during their GCSE and A level projects.
