BBC Live Music Trip
On Friday 1st November, ten Year 10 music students attended BBC Live: Introducing music at the Tobacco Docks.
Students attended a variety of sessions and workshops led by industry experts about music record labels, making money through music, how to start a music business and the type of further education that might best suit their future music careers.
Students were inspired by a workshop led by students and lecturers from the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), where they spoke about how their course teaches all areas of the music industry such as production, publishing, song-writing and rapping and music technology.
A session led by the Performing Rights Society (PRS), Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) and two performance artists gave students a much clearer idea of how to get paid for music. The students finished the day watching the many live music performances and left feeling very inspired.
