Home School Liaison

Our School, in partnership with parents and community aims:

As a school, we will do our best to:

  • provide a safe and caring environment
  • provide a broad and balanced curriculum matched to the needs of your daughter
  • set, mark and monitor homework in keeping with the school’s policy
  • monitor your daughter’s attendance and punctuality and inform you of any concerns 
  • provide you with information about your daughter’s progress
  • contact you when we are concerned about your daughter’s welfare, behaviour or standard of work

As a parent, I will do my best to:

  • ensure my daughter attends school regularly and punctually and inform the school immediately of reasons for absence.  I acknowledge that permission will not be given to take holidays in term time
  • support the rules of the school, including the Code of Behaviour and uniform requirements 
  • attend all parent’s evenings and visit the school if requested
  • support my daughter’s learning at home and ensure she completes homework
  • inform the school of any change of contact details
  • be responsible for the conduct of my daughter’s travelling to and from school

As a student, I will:

  • follow the school’s rules and Code of Behaviour
  • wear the correct uniform to and from school and bring all the equipment I need every day
  • arrive on time and attend regularly
  • work to the best of my ability in school and at home
  • record and complete homework on time

Please note:

  • The school cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, private property brought to school by students.
  • All students have filtered access to the internet and email and are expected to use these facilities for educational purposes only.
  • Mobile phones are not allowed at Highbury Fields School and must be switched off before you come into school.  This means that mobiles phone must not be seen, heard or used at any time, on the school site. If a student needs to contact home, during the school day or after school, they can ask the teacher on duty to use a school phone.  If a parent or carer needs to contact a child, during the school day or during an after school activity, they should contact the school office.  If a phone is seen, heard or found to have been used it will be confiscated for 24 hours.  Parents/carers will need to collect mobile phones the next school working day after 3.20pm.
  • No electrical equipment is allowed into school under any circumstances. If you are caught with these items they will be confiscated and parent/carer will have to collect them.
  • Jewellery is not permitted, except for one pair of stud earrings.  If other jewellery is worn, it may be confiscated for a period of time and parents may be asked to collect it.
  • Pupils who arrive out of uniform may be kept out of lesson and parents/carers called.
  • All items of clothing and belongings must be clearly marked with the owner’s name.
  • No expensive items are allowed e.g. leather coats or bags, nor items with logos/brand names displayed on the outside.
  • Money and valuables should not be left unattended.  We strongly advise you that your daughter should bring only the minimum amount of money to school and that she keeps it in a safe place.
  • Students must not bring anything into school which could be construed as an offensive weapon, prohibited substances, alcohol, cigarettes or cigarette lighters. (See Searching, Screening and Confiscation Policy).
  • Books and materials are provided by the school and must be returned when the students leave.  If books etc. are lost or damaged, parents will be asked to pay for replacements.
  • The school will issue a 30 minute detention at the end of the school day to students whose conduct has not met the schools code of behaviour.  Parents/carers will be informed of the detention by text message by 2.30pm each day. The Head has the power to exclude students, if necessary, for disciplinary reasons.  In this case, you as the parent/carer have a right of appeal.
