2020-06-26 Letter to Parents
Friday 26th June 2020
Dear Parents and Carers
I hope that you and your families are well and have enjoyed the glorious sunshine this week.
Following the return of Year 12 students to school last week for UCAS workshops, this week both Year 12 and Year 10 students have, in small numbers, been able to attend school for some lessons. It has been wonderful to have more students in school and I have been very pleased with how both Year 12 and Year 10 have responded to the routines and procedures that the school has had to put in place to facilitate even this small re-opening.
As I have said to Year 10 each morning this week, Highbury Fields School is special because of our students – they make the school a truly lovely place in which to learn and to work. Please know that if your daughter is in a year group that has not been able to return to school, she is being genuinely missed.
Currently, government guidance dictates that only 25% of Year 10 and Year 12 students can attend school at any one time. Whilst this advice is likely to continue until the end of the academic year, Gavin Williamson, the Secretary of State for Education, has this week stated the government’s intention for all students to be able to attend school in September. Detailed guidance regarding the measures that schools will need to take to re-open to all students is due to be published at some point next week. I am therefore hopeful that next Friday I will be able to give you some indication of how your daughter will return to school in September.
The school is planning for students in Year 7, 8 and 9 to have some time in school before the end of the academic year. Each form in these year groups will be invited into school at a discrete time for a form group assembly, which will give students the opportunity to see their friends and speak to members of staff. Parents and carers with daughters in Year 7, 8 or 9 will be written to separately about these events.
An overview of your daughter’s home study for next week, the week beginning Monday 29th June, is attached and the link to this week’s Commitment to Learning questionnaire can be found at Commitment to Learning Questionnaire Link . Please complete the questionnaire by Monday 29th June at 10.00am. Please also keep the School Gateway application on your mobile phone open, so that you ensure you receive all communications from the school.
As always, do please get in touch with the school via firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
