Careers Education Provision Years 10-11

Careers education provision years 10-11

Careers provision in years 10-11 aims to help our students to focus their choices into a clear career pathway whilst keeping their options open to different sectors and education routes. Students in year 10 are provided with information relating to sixth form subject choices, post-16 and post-18 apprenticeships and University courses in order to help them to navigate the range of sectors available to them.

In year 10 we provide workplace and university visits to continue to raise our students aspirations. In year 11 students work with a dedicated careers adviser to ensure they are able to access the future they want through the choices they make post-16.

Meet the Professionals

The Highbury Fields School STEAM week is an annual event to mark British Science Week. During the week subject areas lead careers based activities that demonstrate the role of STEM in different career sectors. Highlights include dissections in Science, robotics in Technology, Art and Design engineering challenges and much more. This week is also marked the annual Meet the Professionals  event. This year over 50 professionals came to the school, representing over 20 companies, who met with students in years 10 and 12 to discuss careers and education. Our students consistently impress the professionals with their mature and insightful conversations and ambitious attitudes to education and careers. This year the range of companies included the NHS, Capital One UK, Hogan Lovells law firm, ANDigital, Atkins Global, and the Metropolitan police.
