Highbury Fields School is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a £1000 Unilever Grant to support a Deaf Awareness Project. The Project was developed by members of the Highbury Fields School Council in Years 9 and 10. The School Council students prepared a 10 minute pitch which they delivered to a panel of judges at London City Hall in December. The panel was most impressed with the students clear and well-structured presentation, their confidence and how well prepared they were for questions. The Deaf Awareness Project will take place in May to mark Deaf Awareness Week. To raise awareness of deafness as a disability the Student Council will be organising sign-language workshops, a poster competition and cake sale and a celebration event to raise money for the National Deaf Children’s Society.
