Role: Staff Governor
Job: Deputy Head of Inclusion
Q: How long have you been working at HFS and what do you do?
I have worked at Highbury Fields School since 2014 as Deputy Head in the Inclusion Department. I am also a tutor to the lovely 8M.
During the school day I specifically work with children who are new arrivals to the UK and need additional help with their English. I love seeing the rapid progress that students who come from other countries make as their confidence grows at Highbury Fields.
Q: Why did you want to be a governor?
I wanted to become a governor to gain greater insight into the way that the school functions, and to make contributions which represent the staff body during the decision making process.
Q: What do you like best about Highbury Fields School?
My office is next to the wall of school photos on the ground floor and being able to be reminded about the rich history of Highbury Fields School every day is one of my favourite things about working here. I love that I work at a place that has had a significant part in educating strong, confident, successful women for decades. I also like seeing girls take part in the full range of extracurricular activities on offer and being encouraged to simply have a go.
